Travel

create your own visited country map Apparently I've visited 8% of the worlds countries - as of March 2006 (the Vatican State upped it by 0.5%). Want one non-boring, non-package deal in each continent by the time I'm 30! Probably isn't going to happen.

See some of my travel adventures on my Bulletin Board. Includes:

  • A free trip to Boston, USA from a newspaper
  • Sailing adventures in Turkey and Greece
  • Backpacking around Europe - France, Italy, Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark and Sweden - in 4 weeks
  • Backpacking from St. Petersburg to Moscow

Sailing

Throughout my teenage years I used to love sailing when on Scout camp - I've even fallen in Killingworth lake in February and carried on. Working at Cowes on the Isle of Wight, truly the World's home to sail racing, and attending Cowes Week didn't help. Upon joining the BBC I found that the social club had Dinghy and Yachting sections. So I joined and took a Dinghy sailing course. I'm now a fair-weather dinghy sailor, enjoying the odd race, and go abroad with Uni friends once a year to sail in the Med, with the likes of Sunsail or Mark Warner I'm also the serving Ariel Sailing Club Vice Commodore. I've also started Yachting and am looking forward to qualifying as an RYA Day Skipper later this year and am a qualified Powerboat coxswain. This year I am hoping to take part in the JP Morgan Round the Island Race, 1700 boats going anti-clockwise around the Isle of Wight. Full list of courses:
  • RYA National Sailing Scheme Levels 1 and 2
  • RYA National Powerboat Scheme Levels 1 and 2 + Coastal Endorsement
  • RYA Day Skipper Theory
  • VHF GMDSS SRC
To be taken later this year:
  • RYA Safety Boat Coxswain
  • RYA Day Skipper Tidal Practical

Mind-Maps

I've been playing around with non-linear representation of data at work (sounds boring, I know), so I created these using a bit of free software called FreeMind (original, ain't it)
